J. Pat Ramsey

It's been 18 years since Pat did all the harmonica work on the Johnny Winter Lp, White Hot & Blue.
Since then he has been considered by many to be a harp player's harp player. Now Pat steps out with his first solo effort and... It's About Time!

It was at T.J.'s cozy hide away on Court street in Memphis where I really remember seeing Pat Ramsey play and sing for the first time. I knew right away that Pat's sound was unique. It's been almost 2 years since then and everytime I listen to Pat I'm amazed at his approach to the harmonica and with his confidence on stage. Pat has held down a house gig at Blues City Cafe on Beale Street in Memphis, TN for over a year and a half. The musicians on the street say when Pat comes to the club, he comes to play! This album started as an idea during the breaks at the club and took us over one year to finish (we took our time on this one). Pat and I produced the album together and a host of Memphis musicians played on it. For people who haven't noticed Memphis is really putting out some great music here in 1995/96. This album is a prime example of what's happening on the Blues scene in Memphis today.

Recording again with his own group, Winter is more relaxed and forthright in his leadership. Perhaps its just these qualities that allow harp player Pat Ramsey to emerge as a costar, blowing juicy solos that slip over the guitar leads like butter over popcorn.
